Kerry Austin Art
am Kerry Austin, a Visual Artist living on the Gold Coast in Australia. I have been selling my art since 1990’s. I work with a variety of mediums and techniques, principally painting and illustration. Realism, abstraction, representational art. My favourite mediums include Inks, Acrylics & Watercolours as I am responsive to the movement and the immediacy that comes from creating with them. I love painting large canvases but also create small illustrations to make art accessible and inspire individuals to own an original one off Artwork or two. I want my work to reflect the things that inspire me. I love walking through forests, waking up to sunrises over the ocean, full moons rising and reflecting its light across the seas. I am always foraging for anything interesting in these environments, shells, driftwood, lichens and fungi, tiny native orchids and flowers, bits of bark and twigs. I use all these items and memories in my works, either as inspiration or even tools for interesting mark making. It is exciting to experiment with different techniques and materials to create my pieces. I also am a deeply spiritual person. I believe that all things are created with a life within them that is a gift for us to enjoy the complexities and beauty of. Nature links us to our Creator. It evokes a sense of wonder and curiosity, and a sense of awe, total surrender, peace and joy. These are subjects that work their way into my art practice. This combination of my inner world and external world experiences and emotions necessitate both my desire to create and each one individually dictates the medium and techniques that I use to reflect that life within it. Like most artists I have been creating in one form or another since childhood. I have used my passion to both create artworks myself and to inspire other people, young and old, from all walks of life to experience the joy of creating. Connecting with individuals and nurturing them through their artistic journey is a passion that I value. My Paintings and art collaborations are in Hospitals, Schools, Corporate Offices, Homes in Australia as well as other countries. I have been in several solo art exhibitions, collaborative exhibitions and have curated numerous student exhibitions throughout my career. I also displayed my own and other Artists works in my own Gallery Space for a number of years. My other passion is family. I am a mother of five amazing, also creative, adult children who themselves are a delight and inspiration. We all have a love of nature and travel and find joy in bringing life and purpose to those around us. It is a privilege to be an Artist and to be able to help others find the joy of their own creativity; to bring beauty, curiosity and inspiration into the lives, homes and offices of those who see the importance of an Original life giving piece of Art.
